Ylam Deme is an architect and artist whose work explores the connection between space, memory, and storytelling.
Her practice spans private commissions for interior or architecture projects, furniture, sculpture, and drypoint etchings—each piece evoking forgotten memories and layered narratives.
Inspired by folklore and her multicultural heritage—from Ivory Coast and Mauritania to France—her work weaves together diverse influences into an imaginative, poetic language. Across disciplines, she invites viewers into spaces where memory and imagination meet.
Based in London, Ylam Deme attended the Architectural Association in London (AA Dipl Honours, 2022) and has prior training from the Atelier de Sèvres in Paris.

In Brittany, pilgrimages serve as communal binders, sacralizing the land through footsteps and collective memory, with paths often guided by retellings or diaries rather than maps. The research focuses on preserving and asserting the intangible essence of traditions like the Troménie de Locronan, a silent pilgrimage held every six years, currently being threatened by adjacent land owners.
