Ylam Deme is an architect and artist whose work explores the connection between space, memory, and storytelling.
Her practice spans private commissions for interior or architecture projects, furniture, sculpture, and drypoint etchings—each piece evoking forgotten memories and layered narratives.
Inspired by folklore and her multicultural heritage—from Ivory Coast and Mauritania to France—her work weaves together diverse influences into an imaginative, poetic language. Across disciplines, she invites viewers into spaces where memory and imagination meet.
Based in London, Ylam Deme attended the Architectural Association in London (AA Dipl Honours, 2022) and has prior training from the Atelier de Sèvres in Paris.

Diatoms Collection, 2023
Jericoacoara, Brazil
The collection tells the story of cultural exchange by celebrating the rich and diverse cultures that intersect in the equatorial region around the Atlantic Ocean. The contrasting black and natural wood pieces with delicate carvings echo the shapes of diatoms, tiny prehistoric organisms carried by the sandy winds from the Sahara to the Amazon rainforest.
