Ylam Deme is an architect and artist. Bridging both realms, with space making her practice aims to rekindle forgotten memories, both enigmatic and evocative. The work ranges from private commissions for residential spaces to furniture, sculptural objects and dry points.
Drawing inspiration from folklore, storytelling, and her diverse heritage —from Ivory Coast to Mauritania and France— her creative expression reflects a rich tapestry of influences. In all its forms, the work fosters an eclectic experience, inviting viewers into a realm where memory and imagination intertwine.
Based in London, Ylam Deme attended the Architectural Association in London (AA Dipl Honours, 2022) and has prior training from the Atelier de Sèvres in Paris.

Casa A, 2022-2024.
Palamos, Spain
Built in 1907, this narrow townhouse was discovered in a derelict state. The project entailed a thoughtful reconfiguration of the circulation and a meticulous refurbishment using chestnut, marine plywood, lime plaster, custom terracotta tiles and ceramics.
