Ylam Deme is an architect and artist whose work explores the connection between space, memory, and storytelling.
Her practice spans private commissions for interior or architecture projects, furniture, sculpture, and drypoint etchings—each piece evoking forgotten memories and layered narratives.
Inspired by folklore and her multicultural heritage—from Ivory Coast and Mauritania to France—her work weaves together diverse influences into an imaginative, poetic language. Across disciplines, she invites viewers into spaces where memory and imagination meet.
Based in London, Ylam Deme attended the Architectural Association in London (AA Dipl Honours, 2022) and has prior training from the Atelier de Sèvres in Paris.

A barn, a fountain and a shed in the landscapes of Brittany, 2022.
The project proposes new forms of productive organisation through alternative scheduling based on temporal occupation and rotation.
Designed for the protection of a pilgrimage route, the proposal is a network of points that pace the route with stops and temporary structures.Interlaced ownership, oscillating boundaries and moments of imperfection like a constellation of menhirs it asserts the presence of the pilgrimage in the landscape whilst mediating with the ongoing farming that surround them.
Like the pilgrimage’s stones, the shed rests on granite, opposing the ephemerality of a farm building to the enduring character of the stones acting as a placeholder.
